CITY HALL EXAMINATIONSThe Prevention, Coalition and Intervention Department (PCID) officers have been carrying out an examination of the systems, policies, procedures and practices of the City Council of Nairobi, with a view to identifying weaknesses, loopholes, avenues and opportunities for corruption and make recommendations on how to seal the loopholes, so as to enhance good corporate governance, integrity, transparency and accountability. The exercise has been going on since October 2005, but even with the presence of staff from KACC, some of the City Hall corruption diehards would not exercise restraint. A staff member was found with a whopping KShs. 866,000 in cash stashed in his pockets! The case is under investigation. Posted on Monday, October 17, 2005
